Amazing Benefits of Reciting Surah Al-Kahf

Numerous hadiths refer to the great benefits and virtues of reciting and memorizing Surah Kahf, such as:

1. Memorizing ten verses from Surah Kahf protects against the Fitnah of Dajjal

Prophet Muhammad PBUH said:

“If anyone memorizes ten verses from the beginning of surat al-Kahf, he will be protected from the trial of Dajjal (Antichrist)”

The trial of Dajjal (Antichrist) is one of the most difficult tests of faith that humanity will face at the end of time. Thus, the prophetic guidance to such a simple and easy-to-do act of worship to protect us from this fitnah must be taken seriously.

2. Reciting it brings a sense of calmness

Al-Barā said that when a man was reciting sūra al-Kahf (Qur’ān,18) with a horse tied with two ropes at his side a cloud overshadowed him, and as it began to come nearer and nearer his horse began to take fright. He went and mentioned that to the Prophet in the morning and he said, “That was the peace which came down by reason of the Qur’ān.”

Reciting the Quran generally brings about peace of mind and tranquility to the soul of the reciter, and we are in dire need of peace and calmness in these troubling times, when the pressures of worldly desires and sins are drawing individuals away from worshipping Allah.

3. Reciting Surah Kahf on Friday brings about light between the two Fridays

A great virtue is attached to the recitation of Surah Kahf on Friday, such as the prophetic hadith:

“It was reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever reads Sūrat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, a light will shine for him between the two Fridays.”

This helps in keeping the great lessons this Surah bears alive in the hearts of believers.
